All About Me(me)

Monica tagged me for her meme, and I haven’t done one for a while, so here we go:

If you could go back in time and relive one moment, what would it be?

I’d probably go back and hold Emily Rose again, since I didn’t get all that many moments with her.

If you could go back in time and change one thing, what would it be?

I think I’ve covered this before. If you’re going to go back in time and change ONE thing, you’ve got to think big. If I had carte blanche to change *anything,* I’d prevent the fall of the angels, which would dramatically change the nature of creation, which might have prevented the fall of the human race or at the very least would change the nature of human evil, which might mean we’d all be living in paradise right now with golden honey bees rather than blogging about who’s going to take over after Osama bin Laden’s death.

What movie/TV character do you most resemble in personality?

I don’t watch enough TV to find a character there. In fact, I couldn’t find someone from the movies either until I asked at the dinner table and my Patient Husband suggested Crow T Robot. And together, of course, we’re Waldorf and Statler.

But Kiddo#3 suggested “Wall-E!” right away, and I was about to say, “No, really,” when I realized he’s got a point. Wall-E is intuitive and adaptive, has a job and does it, finds the purpose in what others would consider valueless, and helps others find and reach their own potential. I don’t think I’ve achieved all that, but I find in Wall-E a mix of personality traits that in some respects mimics my own, and the ones I lack I can at least aspire to.

If you could push one person off a cliff and get away with it, who would it be?

Monica revised her answer to this one, but I want to approach it differently. First, I wouldn’t push someone off a cliff with intent to kill or harm them because that’s just not good for my soul, and any momentary satisfaction I received wouldn’t be worth it.

Okay, so let’s take it out further: what if someone was trying to harm one of my children. Could I do it then? Quite possibly, yes. If the only way to keep my children safe was to give some horrible attacker a shove, then I might be able to do it in self-defense.

Into the realm of the ridiculous: is there any way in which pushing this person off a cliff would actually be for the greater good of humankind? For example, would this person’s sudden foray into thin air result in a previously-unknown ability to fly? What if the person was standing in the path of an oncoming truck and shoving him off the cliff might be the only way to potentially save his life?

See, in those cases, I think it would be just fine to go ahead and give the person a shove. But since I’m not surrounded by paranormal people who are about to get hit by trucks, I’m going to just go ahead and say, no one. Sorry.
