The “seven angels” part of the title

So you’re wondering where the “seven angels” come in, since I’ve already mentioned the kiddos and the Patient Husband.

There’s a bit of a double meaning here. The first meaning is the one I’ll talk about today, and that is that I’ve got a novel coming out in January, 2008, and the title is Seven Archangels: Annihilation. It’s my second novel. The first novel (also about angels) is out of print, and I’ll talk about that some other time.

It’s a tenet of faith that angels are eternal creatures–in other words, they can’t die. In Seven Archangels: Annihilation, Satan thinks he’s figured out how to destroy an angel. So he starts with the Archangel Gabriel. Havok ensues. The good guys are scrambling to figure out if there’s anything they can do to save Gabriel. One of the seven Archangels of the Presence gets trapped in Hell while trying to stop the annihilation. And the bad guy who figured out the mechanism to destroy an angel has a crisis of his until-then-dormant conscience as he tries to cope with the magnitude of what he’s done.

It’s angels at their best and their worst, coping with a change in understanding their own nature and figuring out what it means to love at all cost.

I had a tremendous amount of fun writing this book, so I’m looking forward to folks reading it.
