I’m still having fun collecting dragons. As I acquire new eggs and hatchlings, I rotate them through the sidebar to help them hatch and then grow up, but it’s pretty low-maintenance now that I’ve figured it out.
At first I named them for angel characters from my stories, so you have Zadkiel, Remiel and Raguel. But as the number of dragons increased, I started going for more and more minor characters, and I realized that naming scheme was insupportable. I switched over and began naming them for virtues. Therefore we have Strength, Steadfastness, Purity, Prayer, and so on. I couldn’t help the occasional pun, either: Silenceis a golden.
Of course, then I had to go all Biblical on the dragons. Take for example Psalm 85, “Kindness and Truth shall meet, Justice and Peace shall kiss.”
When Kindness and Truth met, they produced this little guy:
I’m sorry to say that due to an unfortunate miscalculation, Justice and Peace are both males, so Justice and Peace can’t kiss.
Justice and Mercy produced this one, though: When it hatches, I think I’ll name it Mystery.
I don’t think there really are eschatological truths to be had in breeding dragons. They’re only pixels. When the server goes down, it’s not an indicate that there’s no Hope or Mercy in the world any longer.
But they’re fun, and there’s a fun in acquiring an egg and “raising” it by getting it clicks and views, and there’s always a little jolt of thrill when you find your egg has hatched or your hatchling has grown up. It’s a benign creativity, and for now, I’m having a good time.
“Homicidal Jungle Fowl of DOOM” made me laugh.
My favorite name is someone’s chicken named “bwuk.”
But another unknown dragon-cave resident has “Formerly Known As Egg,” and that always makes me laugh.
