Sometime Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, this weblog will reach 100,000 hits.
In celebration, let’s have a party. Leave a comment in the combox and I’ll automatically enter you to win a signed copy of my novel, Seven Archangels: Annihilation. If you already have a copy of that, enter anyhow and we’ll work out an equivalent prize for you. I’ll close the contest and pick a winner when we hit 100,000.
In the comment box, go ahead and say….whatever you want. How long you’ve been here, if you had a favorite discussion, the time you most wished you could reach through the computer and strangle me, what you wish I would write about more (or less). If you’ve lurked here, introduce yourself. Questions, comments, critiques: it’s up to you.
Since this weblog began in November, 2007 (when it was Seven Angels, Three Kids, One Family) you guys have accompanied me through having a novel published, having a baby, moving to a new city, enduring one interminable being-considered-for-publication process (and the ensuing rejection), losing one cat and acquiring another, and having a novella accepted by Lilley Press. We’ve talked about angels, kids, cats, grief, God, more angels, geeky children, music, carrot peelers, writing tips, angels, and mountain bikes.
Most of all, it’s been fun. So let’s have more. Leave a comment, tell your friends to come comment too, maybe win a novel, and let’s have a toast!
To the next hundred thousand hits!
Am I really the first commenter?!!!
Indeed you are. I wish I could offer you a cookie or something. 🙂
Simply put, you make me think. I don’t agree with everything you say(heck, you made a blog entry about me disagreeing with you), but you do it in a way I enjoy very much.
There are moments when you put a lump in my throat when you describe something that hits me straight in the depths of my soul.
There are times when you make me cry so hard I can’t think straight.
In other words, congratulations and Mazel tov.
It’s fun reading your blog – you seem to have a similar sense of humor to mine, and it’s always interesting – whether serious, or sentimental, or silly.
(Also always nifty to hear about the family’s guardians!)
Hi Jane! Congrats. I only read your blog sporadically, but it is definitely one of the more amusing blogs in my blogroll. It expands my sense of wonder for this world. 🙂
I haven’t yet had a chance to read your book as an ebook, but I am keeping up with your blog and would love to try the book printed!
Lemme see, your blog has seen me through RCIA, a third pregnancy, and (yes I’m a geek parent too) putting a Starfleet uniform onesie on my baby boy!
Congratulations, I can’t wait to read what you write next!
Oh, gosh, you should post a photo of that somewhere! Start your own blog. 🙂
Hi, Jane. I already have a copy of your book but I wanted to post a comment anyway to tell you that I enjoy reading your blog. My favorite post so far is the one about the change jar. But a close second is “Signs You are a Geek Parent.” Keep up the good work!
It’s occurred to me that if the angels really are taking the change, they’ve probably gotten about $200 right now. Or else, we’ve somehow failed to accumulate $200 in change because of different spending habits. But I prefer thinking of 200 homeless guys getting cups of coffee or people finding change for the bus, or change for a postage stamp just when they need it. 🙂
Love your blog. Love your writing. You rock! 🙂
I very much enjoy your blog! Keep up the good work!
Congratulations! 100,000 is no small number of visitors.
I love reading your weblog. My absolute favories are Uncle Mayhem and the incident on the weekend in PA.
Love it! Congrats on 100K!!! Woot! :ets party!
I knew my life was taking a turn for the better when I found your blog via EH forum. You are a wonderful teacher/writer of what it means to be a loving parent, wife, child of God, and Protector of Lost Felines. Your writings can be LOL funny as well as bring tears to my eyes.
I don’t know many authors who have that ability. Ditto Ivy’s comment.
Came by for the angels and kids, stayed for the Geekiness. 😀
Congratulations! A well deserved milestone and accomplishment. Just one request?????
Could you be more sarcastic, please?
Oh, sure. Because I haven’t been sarcastic enough.
Sarcasm and more cow bell.
I dropped by after finding the link in your EH sig. I read sporadically until you left, at which point I started reading everyday. I recently had my own sabbatical from EH, and I was actually thinking of you on my way home. It’s really changed my day, to not get up in the morning and login before work. I finally got my computer set back up last night (and I read through a backlog of your posts) and it didn’t feel strange that I didn’t turn it on this morning. My mornings – and afternoons – have been more relaxed.
Anyway, you said to introduce yourself if you’re lurking, and I’ve been lurking. The first comment is the hardest, right?
The first comment is hardest both figuratively and literally because I have to approve the first comment. 🙂 Fortunately I happened to be online when you commented.
(second post was definitely easier :))
I’m actually reading your book now. Poor angels.
I was only being sarcastic!
Oh,yeah, and I wasn’t.
Hi Tabris! I sooooooo miss your wise words at EHell. But, I’m so glad I can read what you say here! You truly do have an amazing gift in your writing. You know, you should think about writing a book or something. 😉 Hee hee!
CONGRATS on the 100K!!! Wow!!! I’m impressed!
I hope you’re doing well!
I don’t comment often because I was a latecomer to the blog through EHell and don’t want to sound like a stalker. 😀
However, you make me think, as someone said above. You make me think about what I want for my family, what I want from my life, and what I want from my faith. That last one is a big one for me — I was brought up Catholic, but I’ve strayed pretty far from it specifically and you make me consider where I want to go from here.
Good luck on getting your most recent work published and congrats on 100,000 views!!
I’m another who has followed you from EH, and I have to say I absolutely LOVE your blog. It makes me laugh, it makes me cry and it really makes think sometimes. You have a way with words. Congratulations on 100,000 hits!!!! And here’s to many, many more!!
Woo hoo on the milestone!
Did you ever find out any more about that beautiful monument in the cemetery?
I remember that I wanted to ask you something about something else, but I forget. Sometimes my brain is like… like one of those holey things you drain noodles in. Oh well.
Yeah, I know the feeling.
Fortunately, I did find out more about that statue:
It’s all there, with pictures. 🙂 Enjoy!
Thanks for the link, I must have missed it earlier. It is a truly lovely monument. I too have lost one to war. My father died in Vietnam.
I have so enjoyed your blog over the past months. It’s one of the first ones that I read when I get online. (Which is frequently!)
What I especially enjoy is your uniquely nerdy, funny and Catholic view of the world. I myself am not a Catholic, though I have a few nun’s blogs bookmarked as well. (Please understand that I mean “Catholic viewpoint” to be respectful and honoring, not that since you are Catholic you are crazy and I like making fun of you in my head. Quite the contrary.)
Keep on doing what you are doing. You are appreciated and enjoyed!
Also… I like parenthesis. Sorry.
Aww, you guys — you’re making it like a mutual admiration society here. *sniff* No one’s going to believe the “sarcasm served up daily” part any longer! 🙂
I don’t know if I could pick a favorite post. All I’m sure of is that I really look forward to checking your blog every day.
As of now, we’ve cleared 100,000 hits (4:28pm, August 25th) so I’m going to close entries for the drawing, and I’ll announce a winner tomorrow.
Thanks everyone for dropping by! 🙂

I love online parties — never to late to sneak in. Wheee!!!!
I enjoy the mix of daily life (not wallowing or mindless, often with a theme), theology, and conversation. It’s well-balanced.
