I made a hat for someone specific, and when I was finished, I second-guessed myself. I’m not sure if she’ll like it or want it or think it’s burdensome. And yes, we’re in spring now, but there will be other winters during which (I hope) she can wear a hat.
Help me out here: tell me what kind of person would wear this hat?
It’s an adult size small, or child size large. It can fit a smaller head, like so:
And of course, once I did that, others wanted to get in on the action:
And wanted their friends to get in on the action as well:
I will be honest: only stylish people can wear a beret well, and I cannot do it. Sorry. I’ve tried wearing it, and I just can’t get it to sit right on my unstylish head, and that’s the primary reason I’m second-guessing my decision to make this hat for that person. Although she seems to be stylish and fashionable herself, so I don’t know. It might look fantastic on her.
All my hand-knitted items come with the caveat that if you don’t like them, you can feel free to give them to someone you know or to charity, and I don’t mind.
But still, I’d like to think the recipient is a good match for the item, so in the comments box, please take a guess as to what kind of person would wear that hat.
Special note: if you are related to me, and you have a daughter who would like to wear that hat, or she sees the picture on the computer and wants it, send me an email and she gets first dibs if the hat gets rehomed.
I can visualize that hat on an older lady (so warm on thinning hair!) or on a younger bohemian type. I have a few friends who would totally rock it.
See, the “older lady” part is what worries me. I picked completely the wrong yarn for this hat this time. The last time I made it, I used a glossy/slippery yarn, and while I thought the sparkles in this yarn would make it gorgeous, the strands of wool on this one make it look “older” than I thought it would.
Oh dear, if only I looked good in hats. 😉
It’s a totally cute hat. Anyone should be proud to wear it. 😀
Well, we hope.
