Earlier this week, I finished my first pair of knitted socks:
I cast on too tightly, so they wouldn’t go over my heel. Easy enough: I changed plans and did a short enough foot that they fit Kiddo#2, who is modeling them for the camera.
This, of course, created jealous feelings in Kiddo#1, so my current project is a pair of socks for him.
I do own more yarn, and the third pair of socks will be for me. There’s enough leftover blue yarn to do socks for Kiddo#4. (Kiddo#3 is out of luck for the moment.)
Given that we’re about to be “socked in” with snow, tomorrow might be a terrific time to knit socks.
lol end sock jealousy by telling them they are gifts. no kid wants to admit they want socks, or really any clothing item, as a gift.
HAH! That might just work — although for some reason, my Kiddos love getting clothing as gifts. Are they inordinately strange or what?
BTW, looking at the picture, I realize the socks are slouching. They’re not really different lengths! Honest!
Woo hoo! They are gorgeous. Good job. First socks rarely work out, but these are clever and pretty. And to think, just a few months ago you were figuring how to do a hat for the first time.
What yarn is that?
It’s the yarn YOU gave me, about a year ago. And the pattern you instructed me in, too. (I grabbed the label, and it says Zitron Trekking, made in Germany.)
Right now I’m up to the heel flap on Kiddo#1’s first sock, and I’m hoping to get the heel turned and the gusset started by the end of today.
